A Trip to Florida and the Bahamas part 1

Last Updated on August 1, 2019 by Kevin B Agar

Have just returned from 2 weeks in Florida and the Bahamas for my wife’s 60th birthday.  There was a group of 6 that have all celebrated each other’s 60th birthdays and this was the last.  As this is a photography blog I’ll only mention the photography rather than the excellent holiday we had.  The first 4 days we spent at South Beach Miami and here I managed to get some shots of Royal Tern, Brown Pelicans, Laughing Gulls and a new lifer, Black Skimmer.

As well as the beach we also took a trip to the Miami Botanical Gardens where we saw Cardinal, Northern Waterthrush and Blue-crowned Parakeet.

On Sandra’s birthday we went to Bill Baggs National Park in Key Biscayne, walked some trails, had a picnic and a great time. Not very productive for birds but we did manage to see a distant Red-bellied Woodpecker, Gray Kingbird, Common Yellowthroat, Black and White Warbler, Cape May Warbler, Palm Warbler, American Redstart, Mourning Dove, White Ibis, Brown Pelican and a high flying Red-shouldered Hawk with it’s Iguana catch. There was also Iguanas, butterflies and Raccoons hoping for picnic handouts.
