We left Lake Eland Game Reserve and travelled to Hillcrest in Durban to meet with Craig, Tammy and their son Josh. A lovely family we met last year in Mauritius. Tammy was expecting twins and as we were so near it would have been a shame not to see them. We spent a great afternoon with them before moving on to The Cavern Drakensberg Resort and Spa
There was no parking near to the rooms so we unloaded the car in front of reception and carried the bags to the room, then moved the car down the hill to the covered car park. The walk back to the room through the gardens was lovely with loads of Agapanthus africanus flowering with Sunbirds flitting about the blooms
What an amazing place. Fantastic scenery, great food and wine, and lots of company. We met some lovely people here and the owners were very warm
The food was all extremely good and there was a wine cellar with a great choice of wines
Sandra spent some time relaxing around the pool and I did some photography as well as some relaxing.
Whilst we were in the area we thought we should visit the Royal Natal National Park and see the Drakensberg Amphitheatre
Upon entering the park we went to the information centre to find how to get to a walk that we’d decided to do. The lady behind the counter suggested we did the Cascades instead of the one we’d chosen as it was a better walk, so we took her advice and drove the short distance to the start of the walk
On the way back to our accommodation we stopped at a small lake and took a few photographs of Southern Red Bishop and Yellow-fronted Canary
The next day we did a walk around and above the The Cavern Drakensberg Resort and Spa that gave good views of the area

Well it’s finally the end of another fantastic holiday in South Africa. A long drive back to Johannesburg airport, stopping at a service station near to the airport to rest a bit, get something to eat, fill the car and watch the setting sun
The last leg, and a long stop over at Schiphol so Sandra decided to try and relax
Think you meant Mauritius not Seychelles. Nevertheless good ending to the diary.
Thank you Lyneatta, a senior moment. I’ve corrected it 🙂
